Jaguar Land Rover gets half a billion pound boost

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has committed £500 million to upgrade its Halewood factory in Merseyside to produce hybrid and electric vehicles.

The company, which Tata owns, has already invested £250 million in new production lines, machinery, and digital technology, with plans for a further £250 million in the coming years.

The upgrade will allow Halewood to produce electric versions of the Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque, alongside traditional and hybrid models.

JLR is also investing £18 billion to expand its electric vehicle lineup, starting with the electric Range Rover, set to launch from its Solihull plant next year
