Technology Minerals PLC's (LSE:TM1) 48%-owned, Wolverhampton-based subsidiary Recyclus has completed a project to recycle 4,000 lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery modules from electric vehicles.
Recyclus carried out the 10-week recycling programme with a leading engineering services and technology company.
The Li-ion battery modules were stored and transported using Recyclus' proprietary ADR-compliant LiBox containers, which provide a safe, end-to-end solution for handling end-of-life battery modules. Recyclus received gate fees for processing the modules.
“We are proud to help tackle the increasing volumes of end-of-life Li-ion batteries that have emerged in the transition to electrification,” Technology Minerals chair and Recyclus director Robin Brundle said.
“Successfully delivering this project to recycle 4,000 Li-ion battery modules from a major player in this field is a testament to our ability to become the go-to provider to store, transport and recycle Li-ion batteries on an industrial scale."
Recyclus aims to address the growing volumes of end-of-life batteries resulting from the global shift toward electric vehicles.
The Wolverhampton-based industrial recycling plant is the first of its kind in the UK, and the company’s cradle-to-cradle solution helps to meet the increasing demand for battery recycling services.
