Tui’s update trading statement today was good news for the UK’s other airlines according to Panmure Liberum.
Though now listed in Frankfurt, UK-focused subsidiary Thomson Holidays is still a major part of the TUI business and overall there was some positive read-through from the numbers, said the broker.
"Tui’s year-end trading update saw FY profit guidance for the year to September unchanged, with positive booking momentum and a strong close to Summer 2024.
“Markets & Airlines bookings are plus 6% and average selling price plus 3% for Summer 2024.
“Bookings for the forthcoming winter season remain promising, with bookings plus 7% and average selling prices plus 5%, although it is still an early stage.
“We see a broadly positive read across to the airlines, albeit with Tui having a different source and destination mix. The absence of any suggestion of weakness in bookings or pricing is reassuring.”
Shares in EasyJet rose slightly to 513.2p and Jet2 eased 1% to 1,394p.
