Dunelm shares fall as founder cuts stake

Dunelm Group PLC (LSE:DNLM) founding Adderley family have cut the stake in the homewares retailer by 10 million shares, around a 4.9% stake, through a placing at 1,140p per share.

The shares were sold by deputy chair Will Adderley and WA Capital Limited (LSE:CAPD), a company he controls with his wife Nadine.

Following the placing, the aggregate holdings of the Adderley Family are 37.6%, with Will Adderley controlling 8.5%, Nadine Adderley at 5.4%, WA Capital Investments at 17.8%, Jean Adderley at 4.7% and others at 1.1%.

Will Adderley last sold shares in the group in 2021, said a statement, which added he remains “fully committed” to Dunelm in his role as deputy chair as well as a very substantial shareholder in the company.

In addition, Will Adderley has undertaken not to sell any further shares for at least 180 days.

Shares in Dunelm are close to their all-time high following solid results recently based on the roll-out of its online offering and recovery from the pandemic.

Shares today dropped 7% to 1,149p.
