London's FTSE 100 opened little changed on Monday, slipping four points early on.
Among those moving was Rightmove, which climbed on news Rupert Murdoch’s REA Group had made a third bid for the property portal, valuing it at £6.1 billion.
Contractor Galliford Try also climbed early on, following news it had won a second utility framework contract to support future Wessex Water upgrades.
Elsewhere, reports said Thames Water creditors were lining up a £1 billion emergency cash injection by the year-end to keep the embattled supplier to London afloat.
And finally, RAC said fuel prices were on course to hit their lowest level across forecourts in three years after falling at the fastest rate in 2024 so far between August and September.
