It’s has secured an agreement with the Madagascan Government to develop its Maniry Graphite mine, a priority project for the region. The agreement follows productive discussions held at the Africa Down Under conference, with a plan now in place for submitting development plans and obtaining permits. The Madagascan Government has adopted an Indicative Program for permit issuance, effective from August 1, 2024.
The company highlighted that the new Mining Code has been instrumental in advancing the country's critical mineral resources. With World Bank support, the region is poised for substantial growth in the mining sector. Evion aims to become a significant supplier of graphite concentrate globally, with the project expected to create over 350 local jobs and provide benefits such as infrastructure, education, and healthcare to the community.
In addition, Evion accompanied its largest offtake partner on a site visit to the Panthera Graphite operations in India, where discussions on expanding operations to meet global demand for expandable graphite were deemed highly productive.
