UK unicorn Thought Machine keen on London listing

UK fintech Thought Machine, the banking software specialist with an estimated value of $2.7 billion, is planning a public listing.

The big questions are whether the IPO will be in London or New York, and how soon.

Chief executive and founder Paul Taylor is keen on floating in London but says investors want him to list in New York where software firms generally get higher ratings, according to a CityAM report.

An IPO for the unicorn is not likely before 2027, either way, though the startup is “definitely going to IPO” Taylor said.

He told the paper that the UK capital is the company's home and "all other things being equal, we’d be very keen to list in London".
