CuFe Ltd (ASX:CUF) executive director Mark Hancock joins Proactive’s Tylah Tully to discuss the company’s reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at its North Dam Project, 28 kilometres east of Kambalda, Western Australia.
This maiden campaign is part of CuFe’s first exploration effort targeting critical minerals like niobium, rare earth elements (REE) and lithium across two tenements: E15/1495 and M15/1841. The program involved 18 RC drill holes totalling 2,068 metres, with the deepest hole reaching 214 metres, the most extensive drilling ever conducted at North Dam.
CuFe discovered multiple pegmatite formations, with a significant downhole intersection of 85 metres in hole NDRC004. The pegmatites, typically between 10 and 47 metres thick, are hosted within mafic-schists and siliciclastics, with some areas showing hydrothermal alteration, suggesting potential gold mineralisation.
Samples have been sent to a Perth laboratory for analysis, and results are expected by October 2024. CuFe emphasised that visual estimates of mineral abundance are preliminary, and definitive conclusions will rely on the assay data. This program represents CuFe’s ongoing effort to diversify its portfolio into battery and technology metals.
