Proactive's Tylah Tully breaks down 'Just the Facts' from Anson Resources Ltd (ASX:ASN, OTCQB:ANSNF) latest ASX announcement.
It has received approval from the State of Utah, Division of Water Rights, for its Green River Lithium Project. The approval permits the company to appropriate brine at a rate of nineteen cubic feet per second for lithium extraction through a direct lithium extraction (DLE) process.
This method ensures that the extracted brine is returned to its original geological formation, confirming it as a non-consumptive process, distinct from traditional evaporation pond methods. The approval follows a reconsideration of the company’s original application, which was initially filed in July last year.
The state engineer has now granted Anson Resources the right to proceed with the extraction. This comes after last month’s approval for an underground injection control report regarding the spent brine return well.
Anson Resources plans to drill four extraction wells on private land acquired last year, situated near the proposed lithium extraction plant. The company asserts its commitment to using an environmentally friendly method by returning waste brine to the same formation.
