GoviEx Uranium Inc (TSX-V:GXU, OTCQX:GVXXF). head of corporate communications Isabel Vilela speaks with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's option to acquire a 51% interest in the Lundazi exploration license in Zambia.
Vilela discussed how this move strengthens GoviEx’s foothold in Zambia, where it is already progressing the Muntanga project. She emphasized the strategic and geological significance of the Lundazi area, highlighting its potential for uranium exploration, especially in the underexplored Karoo Supergroup, known for sandstone-hosted uranium deposits.
Vilela noted, "We have structured the transaction to minimize our risk, with a small initial outlay in the first year," which gives the company flexibility moving forward. GoviEx's positive relationship with the Zambian government and its thriving mining industry were also emphasized, adding confidence in the company's future in the region.
The company is also working toward the Muntanga project's feasibility study, which Vilela stated is on track to be published by year-end. She explained that once the feasibility study is completed, GoviEx will seek financing and aim to start production two years after construction begins.
