Bluefield Partners LLP has hailed the government's commitment to the solar industry after welcoming the UK’s energy department under-secretary to one of the solar farm that forms part of the Bluefield Solar Income Fund (LSE:BSIF) portfolio.
Minister Michael Shanks visited the Manor Farm site near Leighton Buzzard this week.
“The support that the new government has already shown for solar and battery storage has provided much-needed certainty to the industry and investment community,” Bluefield founder and managing partner James Armstrong said.
“Long-term consistency in policy making is vital to our ambitions to significantly increase investment in the sector and assist this government to deliver on the energy transition.”
The company said Armstrong and Bluefield Development managing director Johnathan Selwyn were “extremely encouraged” following discussions with Shanks during the minister’s visit.
These included discussions over the Bluefield Group’s £2 billion worth of UK solar and battery investments, alongside its 1.8-gigawatt pipeline of projects under development.
Such projects will help deliver targets to decarbonise the UK’s energy grid over the coming years, Bluefield added.
“We warmly welcome the government’s stated ambition,” Armstrong said.
