Apple supplier Jabil reportedly investing $240m in India

Jabil Inc (NYSE:JBL), an American electronics manufacturer and supplier to Apple, is investing around $240 million to establish a new plant in Tamil Nadu, India, according to a report by the Reuters newswire.

The facility, near Trichy, will create approximately 5,000 jobs, the article said citing Tamil Nadu's Industries Minister T R B Rajaa.

Jabil’s executive vice president, Matt Crowley, highlighted India’s growing role as a key manufacturing hub, noting that the expansion will help the company meet future customer demands and complement its existing facility in Pune.

Additionally, Tamil Nadu signed agreements with Rockwell Automation for a 6.66 billion rupee investment and Autodesk for further manufacturing expansion in the state.
