The AI supercycle is only getting started, according to chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices Inc's (NASDAQ:AMD, ETR:AMD) CEO Dr Lisa Su in an interview with Yahoo! Finance.
The tech giant is capitalising on the boom by accelerating the production of processors designed to power the artificial intelligence revolution, Su said on the fringes of the Goldman Sachs Communacopia & Technology Conference.
The company plans to introduce its MI325 AI chip later this year, followed by the MI350 in 2025 and the MI400 in 2026, directly targeting Nvidia’s dominance in the AI chip market. Su told Yahoo: "We believe we can have a very significant piece of the training and inference of these large language models."
Following the success of its MI300x chip, AMD expects to generate $4.5 billion in AI-related sales next year, a sharp rise from $100 million last year. "It's the fastest-growing product in AMD's history," Su noted.
