Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL, ETR:APC) launched a range of new products including its latest iPhone lineup at its annual hardware event on Monday.
The launch featured the new iPhone 16, which include a custom-built A18 chip designed to support the company’s AI offering Apple Intelligence.
Features of Apple Intelligence include AI-powered tools that allow users to draft emails and texts. The tech also enables more natural conversations with Apple’s virtual assistant Siri.
Another feature of the iPhone 16 lineup is its ability to allow users to seek information using their camera via “visual intelligence.”
“iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus mark the beginning of a new era for iPhone with Apple Intelligence delivering powerful, personal, and private experiences to our users,” Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing, said in a statement.
“With new ways to discover the world around you and capture memories using Camera Control; a 48MP Fusion camera that gives you two optical-quality cameras in one; a big boost in battery life; and powerful, efficient performance thanks to the A18 chip, this is the perfect time for customers to upgrade or make the switch to iPhone.”
The iPhone 16, measuring 6.1 inches, will start at $799 while the iPhone 16 Plus, measuring 6.7 inches, will start at $899. Colors available are white, black, teal, pink and ultramarine.
Both models in the Pro line are larger than last year’s models, with the Pro 6.3 inches and the Pro Max 6.9 inches. They comes in four colors: white titanium, darker titanium, natural titanium, and brown-colored desert titanium.
The Apple iPhone 16 Pro will cost $999 and the iPhone 16 Pro Max will cost $1,199.
Apple also unveiled its latest AirPods, starting at $129, which feature noise cancellation, more controls, a USB-C compatible charging case, and a longer-lasting battery.
Its updated AirPods Max offer USB-C charging and three new colors: orange purple and starlight. They are priced at $549.
Meanwhile, the new Apple Watch Series 10 includes the ability to detect sleep apnea, new features for water activities, a larger display, a thinner design, and faster charging. The watch starts at $399.
Pre-orders for the new iPhone 16 start on Friday and will be available on September 20.
Apple shares traded down 1.3% following the event.
