Falcon Gold Corp (TSX-V:FG, OTC:FGLDF) said that drill crews have mobilized with equipment for its initial drill campaign at the Great Burnt copper project in Newfoundland.
The company had previously faced delays due to high water levels in the spring but has now completed an additional three kilometers of road to the drill site, shared with Benton Resources.
Karim Rayani, Falcon Gold CEO, said in a statement that the company is “very excited” to have mobilized for the inaugural drill campaign.
"Falcon is perfectly situated in what is shaping up to be Newfoundland’s highest-grade copper district,” Rayani said.
Drilling will target up to 10 geophysical anomalies with an initial 1,100 meters planned. Falcon has also applied for a secondary permit to drill an additional 2,000 to 3,000 meters.
Falcon’s 2,275-hectare Great Burnt copper property lies north of and is contiguous with Benton Resources’ Great Burnt copper-gold joint venture. Benton holds a 70% interest in the project, which hosts the Great Burnt copper zone, with an indicated resource of 381,300 tonnes grading 2.68% copper and inferred resources of 663,100 tonnes grading 2.1% copper.
Recent drilling by Benton at the Great Burnt copper deposit returned grades of 7.2% copper, 7.12 g/t silver, and 0.05% cobalt over 12.3 meters.
