Some 113 Body Shop stores appear to have been saved from closure after a rescue deal for the cosmetics retailer was finalised this weekend.
Auréa Group, made up of a consortium of investors headed by the British cosmetics tycoon Mike Jatania, firmed up a deal to buy Body Shop out of administration late on Friday.
This included Body Shop’s UK, Australian and North American assets, with 1,300 jobs in Britain secured through the deal.
Auréa said there were “no immediate plans” for site closures upon announcing the deal, with Jatania commenting the new owners would “focus relentlessly on exceeding [...] expectations” after the chain fell into administration earlier this year.
Former Molton Brown Charles Denton will now head up Body Shop as chief executive.
