Hemogenyx Pharmaceuticals PLC (LSE:HEMO, OTC:HOPHF) has developed a clinical-grade assay to measure FLT3 protein levels in acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) cells.
This test is essential for selecting patients for the upcoming phase I clinical trials of its HEMO-CAR-T treatment, which will begin soon at MD Anderson Cancer Center and later expand to the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center.
The company's focus on cancer and viral disease therapies highlights the importance of this test for accurate patient identification and trial success.
"The completion of our FLT3 assay marks a critical milestone in advancing our HEMO-CAR-T product candidate into clinical trials," said Hemogenyx CEO Dr Vladislav Sandler.
"This assay will ensure we can accurately identify and recruit the right patients for the trials, bringing us one step closer to providing a potentially life-saving treatment for those battling AML.
"We are excited to begin our phase I trials imminently at MD Anderson Cancer Center, a leading institution in cancer care, and look forward to expanding our efforts to the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center."
