Elon Musk’s social media platform X (formerly Twitter)’s head of global affairs Nick Pickles has announced his departure from the group after 10 years.
Under Pickles, X’s global affairs department led the ongoing campaign to discredit Brazilian Judge Alexandre de Moraes.
Moreas forced the closure of X in Brazil after the social media platform failed to appoint a legal representative to answer questions regarding the proliferation of fake news on the site.
X announced the closure of its Brazil offices in a Tweet sent out by Pickles’ department on 17 August.
”We are deeply saddened that we have been forced to make this decision. The responsibility lies solely with Alexandre de Moraes,” it said. “His actions are incompatible with democratic government. The people of Brazil have a choice to make - democracy, or Alexandre de Moraes.

“The constant across my time at Twitter and X has been the amazing people I've worked with inside and outside the company,” Pickles Tweeted.
“It's been a privilege to lead the @globalaffairs team and I leave with more memories and lifelong friendships than I ever expected when I first walked into the London office back in 2014.
He said he decided to resign “several months ago”.
