The UK secured over £110 billion ($144 billion) in orders for a new bond sale, highlighting strong investor confidence following Labour's landslide election victory in July, according to a report by the financial newswire Bloomberg.
The Debt Management Office is raising £8 billion through a gilt maturing in January 2040 with a 4.375% coupon.
The first government bond issued since the election will be priced at 4 basis points above similar notes.
The order book size matched a record set in June and represents the largest demand relative to the sale size, the Bloomberg story said.
The auction followed on the coattails of a bearish update by the new Labour administration, which faces pressure to address a £22 billion budget deficit.
