G Mining Ventures Corp (TSX-V:GMIN, OTCQX:GMINF) has released its 2023 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report, detailing significant progress and future commitments in sustainable mining practices at its Tocantinzinho Gold Project (TZ) in Pará, Brazil.
The report noted key achievements in 2023 include the completion and commissioning of a 193-km power line connecting TZ to Brazil's national grid, primarily supplied by renewable energy.
G Mining also exceeded its reforestation target, restoring 18 hectares of land, and achieved a 74% recycling rate for project-generated waste.
Water management initiatives resulted in total water consumption of 17,955 cubic metres, with a significant portion of water sourced from recycled materials.
On the social front, G Mining Ventures reported over 4.1 million person-hours worked without a lost time incident, with women representing 43% of executive positions and 11% of the total workforce. The company also invested $492,000 in community programs and reported that 57% of its workforce came from local communities, with 95% being Brazilian employees.
Looking ahead, G Mining Ventures aims to double its reforestation efforts, increase female workforce representation, and achieve 70% of the Towards Sustainable Mining Standards by 2024.
