Ryanair Holdings PLC (LSE:RYA) wants restrictions introduced at airports to stop passengers getting drunk before flights.
Michael O’Leary, chief executive, said people should only be able to buy two drinks at airports, adding this would help stem a rise in incidences of disorder on flights.
Speaking to the Telegraph, O’Leary said that drunken incidents were weekly occurrences on flights especially if other substances were involved.
"We don't want to begrudge people having a drink," he said, "But we don't allow people to drink-drive, yet we keep putting them up in aircraft at 33,000ft."
Crew members and other passengers have become targets, he added.
"In the old days, people who drank too much would eventually fall over or fall asleep. But now those passengers are also on tablets and powder," he added.
"It's the mix. You get much more aggressive behaviour that becomes very difficult to manage."
O'Leary said it was hard to spot potential trouble makers, especially in groups with Ibiza, one of the worst-affected "party destinations".
Ryanair shares rose 1.1% to €1,320 on Wednesday.
