Analysts at brokerage Peel Hunt have weighed in on the news that Faron Pharmaceuticals Limited (AIM:FARN) has received fast-track approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its lead candidate, bexmarilimab.

“The most recent data update from bexmarilimab’s phase 2 shows that, for this otherwise untreatable patient group, bexmarilimab is able to achieve a 79% objective response rate (ORR) with 11 out of 14 patients responding,” noted Peel Hunt, adding: “Faron has previously commented that this compares to a 0-20% ORR for these patients when using existing alternative therapies.”

Primark owner Associated British Foods PLC (LSE:ABF) fell on Tuesday morning after Deutsche Bank analysts warned of tougher times ahead.

Deutsche pushed ABF from a ‘hold’ to a ‘sell’ rating in a note, suggesting "the Primark margin recovery story has played out" and profitability at subsidiary British Sugar looked set to decrease.

Shares in Shield Therapeutics PLC (AIM:STX, OTCQX:SHIEF) rose 7% in early trading following the approval of its drug, Accrufer (ferric maltol), by Health Canada for treating iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) in adults.

This approval enables Shield's partner, Kye Pharmaceuticals, to launch the drug in Canada.

Faron Pharmaceuticals Limited's (AIM:FARN) share price surged 12% in early trading after securing fast-track approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its lead drug candidate, bexmarilimab.

Intended to treat relapsed or refractory myelodysplastic syndrome (r/r MDS) in combination with a chemotherapy called azacitidine, the treatment delivered an overall response rate of 79% in phase II trials, with 11 of 14 patients benefiting from the regimen.

Supermarket suppliers Associated British Foods PLC (LSE:ABF) and Bakkavor Group PLC (LSE:BAKK) were under pressure in early trading on Tuesday after fresh data revealed that UK shop prices had hit reverse gear for the first time in three years.

The British Retail Consortium figures for August showed an overall decline of 0.3% year-over-year.
