Sony Group Corp (NYSE:SONY) has announced another price increase for the PS5 in Japan, effective September 2.
The standard PS5 model with a disc drive will cost approximately $550, while the digital version will be priced at around $500, both seeing a $90 increase.
This continues a trend of rising prices for the console, driven by global economic fluctuations, rather than the traditional price cuts seen with past consoles.
Additionally, the cost of PS5 accessories will also rise, with the DualSense controller priced up to $82 and the PSVR2 reaching $620. Since its launch, the PS5's price has increased by $205 for the disc version and $185 for the digital edition.
