Torr Metals (TSX-V:TMET) announced the discovery of a new copper-gold zone, dubbed the Sonic Zone, within its Kolos copper-gold project in British Columbia, along with high-grade assay results from its 2024 reconnaissance program.
Initial results from the Sonic Zone showed anomalous copper and gold values across a 1,000 by 2,000 meter area.
According to Vancouver-based Torr Metals (TSX-V:TMET), the discovery aligns with a high magnetic geophysical signature, suggesting the presence of a significant mineralizing system with potential similarities to New Gold’s New Afton copper-gold deposit located nearby.
Torr also expanded existing targets, notably the Clapperton Zone, where large angular boulders were found, indicating proximity to a new source of mineralization. Out of 33 rock grab samples collected, nine returned copper values exceeding 500 ppm, including a significant sample from the Kirby Zone, which yielded 0.38% copper and 0.22 g/t gold.
Torr Metals (TSX-V:TMET) CEO Malcolm Dorsey said that the discovery “opens up a new area of mineralization” near New Afton.
“These findings underscore the vast potential for untouched new discoveries within the project area, and as we advance into the 2024 field season we anticipate delivering substantial value to our shareholders through continued exploration of these exciting new targets as well as development of our already established zones,” Dorsey added.
