Nexus Minerals intercepts broad, high-grade near-surface gold at Wallbrook

Nexus Minerals Ltd (ASX:NXM) is enjoying early regional exploration success at its Wallbrook Gold Project in the north-eastern Goldfields of WA, receiving broad, high-grade near-surface assays demonstrating strong growth opportunities.

The results are from Nexus’s recently completed 239 holes for 9,467 metres regional aircore drilling program designed to systematically assess four shallow priority regional targets.

Results include:

  • 8 metres at 2.93 g/t gold within 28 metres at 1.05 g/t from 28 metres;
  • 8 metres at 2.33 g/t within 14 metres at 1.37 g/t to end of hole) from 32 metres;
  • 4 metres at 2.88 g/t within 24 metres at 0.83 g/t from 32 metres;
  • 8 metres at 2.16 g/t within 36 metres at 0.65 g/t from 36 metres;
  • 8 metres at 1.55 g/t within 20 metres at 0.77g/t from 52 metres; and
  • 2 metres at 4.28 g/t within 6 metres at 1.60 g/t from 24 metres.

The company’s exploration strategy focuses on delivering material near-surface discoveries at Wallbrook. These results validate that strategy and demonstrate the ongoing exploration opportunity at the project.

Regional aircore drilling was planned over four high-priority targets at the Wallbrook Project, including targets MC2.1, MC5.1, MC1.4 and MC4.2. These targets were selected for their potential to host near-surface gold mineralisation with sufficient scale to materially build on the project ounce portfolio.

A second aircore program has been scheduled, commencing mid-September, to follow up on and expand the footprint of target 2.1, whilst testing two additional priority regional targets.

Another positive milestone

Nexus managing director Andy Tudor said, “Receiving initial strong results from the regional aircore program is another positive milestone for the company’s exploration effort on the project.

“As a first-pass drilling and mapping tool to receive such strong results from this program represents a great achievement for our exploration team and demonstrates the ability for Wallbrook to deliver additional gold discoveries.

“We will continue to use first-pass aircore drilling to test the 18 high-priority regional targets identified and will then rank the targets for follow-up drilling.

“The company will test additional regional targets with the next 10,000-metre aircore program scheduled to commence in mid-September.

"We look forward to sharing updates through a busy second half of 2024 as the Wallbrook Gold Project continues to progress on multiple fronts.”
