Cobre CEO discusses pioneering seismic survey at Kitlanya West in Kalahari Copper Belt

Cobre CEO discusses pioneering seismic survey at Kitlanya West in Kalahari Copper Belt

Cobre Ltd (ASX:CBE) Adam Wooldridge tells Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's recent seismic survey work at the Kitlanya West copper project, located in the Kalahari Copper Belt in Botswana.

Wooldridge emphasised the significance of seismic technology in the company's exploration strategy, aiming to identify new tier-one deposits. He highlighted that seismic data allows for precise targeting of potential large-scale deposits by modelling fold zones and identifying trap sites within the basin margins. This approach marks a significant shift from traditional exploration methods, providing a three-dimensional context to the data, which could greatly enhance the potential for discovering new mineralisation.

Wooldridge also discussed the promising initial results from the seismic surveys, noting the strong depth penetration and resolution achieved. The results, expected within a few months, are anticipated to guide Cobre's future exploration efforts, ensuring more focused and scientifically backed drilling programs.

"If you don't know what the seismic mix is, you're almost drilling blind and hoping for luck," Wooldridge explained, underscoring the importance of this technology in modern exploration.
