It’s been a big week for Animoca Brands Corporation Ltd, as just days after it announced a strategic investment from TON Ventures that aims to bolster GAMEE's ecosystem, including its WatBird Mini App, it has now received an investment from Pantera Capital.
The undisclosed amount will be used to expand GAMEE’s footprint on The Open Network (TON) by enhancing WatBird, its viral Telegram Mini App. WatBird is a platform that introduces Telegram users to Web3 through entertaining, meme-inspired gameplay.
"Pantera Capital's investment in GAMEE represents a significant vote of confidence in our vision to seamlessly integrate Web3 mechanics into the gaming experiences we've cultivated for our community of 90 million gamers," GAMEE co-founder Bozena Rezab said.
"This support will help us accelerate our mission to strengthen the community's engagement with the TON ecosystem."
Embedded in the ecosystem
GAMEE's strategy involves integrating TON-based digital assets, such as tokens and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), into its gaming experiences on Telegram, further embedding itself within the TON ecosystem.
With more than 4 million GAMEE users already connected via TON Wallets to WatBird, the company aims to draw additional gaming and Web3 communities, GameFi investors and Telegram users into the TON ecosystem through community-driven market activations within its Telegram Mini App.
This funding round, led by Pantera Capital, builds on a recent investment from TON Ventures.
Pantera Capital, the first institutional investment firm in the United States focused exclusively on blockchain, currently manages more than US$5 billion in assets.
In a recent communication, Pantera expressed its strong belief in the potential of the TON ecosystem, noting that this investment marks the largest in the firm's history.
Pantera portfolio manager Cosmo Jiang said: "We are excited to be able to support the growth of applications within the TON ecosystem. We have been impressed by the traction that GAMEE has found with its Telegram Mini App games and look forward to seeing it expand its presence on TON."
GAMEE has more than 100 games and is among Pantera’s initial investments in the TON ecosystem.
WatBird has already attracted a user base of 3 million daily active players.
