Air Canada facing possible pilot strike in September

Air Canada (TSX:AC.B) is facing a potential strike from its pilots in mid-September if a new collective agreement isn't reached.

The Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) has been negotiating with the airline for over a year, focusing on issues such as retirement, scheduling, and compensation.

ALPA chair Charlene Hudy highlighted that Air Canada (TSX:AC.B) pilots are significantly underpaid compared to their American counterparts, urging the airline to modernize the decade-old contract.

After filing a notice of dispute under the Canada Labour Code, the union is in the final stages of conciliation and is currently voting on a strike mandate.

If no agreement is reached, job action could begin as early as September 17.
