Argent BioPharma Ltd (LSE:MXC, OTC:RGTLF, ASX:RGT) has announced a strategic collaboration with SINTEF, one of Europe's largest independent research organisations, to address chronic wound management through nano-formulations.
Argent Bio will pay the costs, though it does not expect them to be material, while it will retain ownership of all project results, including any intellectual property developed.
Based in Norway, SINTEF is an independent research institute founded in 1950 that carries out thousands of projects annually for customers.
Argent Bio said the collaboration is part of its ongoing expansion into new therapeutic areas and it hopes working with SINTEF will lead to advancements in chronic wound treatment.
Chronic wounds remain a significant clinical issue globally with current challenges as well as severe symptoms including antibiotic-resistant infections, impenetrable biofilms, and deteriorating local tissue health.
Experiments at SINTEF will utilise various nano-encapsulated active ingredients with precise dosing and selection to be medically evaluated.
Nano-formulation is expected to enhance the pharmacological characteristics and efficacy of the resulting preparation via improved drug delivery, and increased penetration through biofilms.
