Tiziana Life Sciences Ltd (NASDAQ:TLSA) has announced the appointment of Ivor Elrifi as its CEO, replacing acting CEO Gabriele Cerrone who will remain in his role as executive chairman of the board.
The company highlighted that Elfiri previously served as the global head of the Patent Group at Cooley since 2014, and before that, he led the Patents division at Mintz Levin from 1999 to 2014.
He has advised companies across key sectors like pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, life sciences, and medical devices, as well as research institutions, universities, hospitals, and governments, particularly in the US and Europe.
The new CEO also has significant experience in intellectual property strategy, patent prosecution, licensing, and enforcement, and has guided clients in strategic transactions, including mergers and acquisitions involving major companies like Novartis, Eli Lilly, Biogen, and Astellas, Tiziana Life Sciences noted.
Under Elfiri’s leadership, the company said it aims to accelerate its research programs which are focused on advancing its druge candidate intranasal foralumab through clinical trials for non-active Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (na-SPMS), Alzheimer’s Disease and ALS.
