Noxopharm Ltd (ASX:NOX, OTC:NOXOF) has announced some promising results from preclinical studies of CRO-67 … which targets pancreatic cancer.
The complex studies demonstrated CRO-67 significantly reduces pancreatic tumours and the protective barrier cells that typically shield these tumours from treatment.
As pancreatic cancer is notoriously difficult to treat due to the dense barrier of cells surrounding the tumours ... these results are very encouraging.
Noxopharm found that in sophisticated models where human pancreatic cancer cells and barrier cells were transplanted into mice, CRO-67 not only reduced tumour growth … but also decreased the spread of metastatic cancer. (pic 1)
The treatment showed a 39.15 per cent inhibition of tumour growth and a 45.77% per cent reduction in barrier cells compared to untreated controls. (insert pic 2 side by side)
The drug also altered collagen structures within the tumour microenvironment, potentially enhancing the effectiveness of other treatments.
And investors reacted accordingly … the company’s share’s soared almost 50 per cent this morning on the ASX.
