Brookside Energy Ltd (ASX:BRK, OTC:RDFEF) has wound up completion operations at the Rocket Well on the Flames Pad in the core of the southern SCOOP Play in the Anadarko Basin of Oklahoma safely, meeting budget and schedule expectations.
These operations included high-intensity fracture stimulation of the well's lateral section in 46 stages, all of which were successfully completed.
Real-time monitoring during the operations confirmed that each stage effectively stimulated the reservoir, with pressures, sand and fluid volumes aligning with the planned design.
Completion operations of the Sanford Pad wells, Iginla, Maroons and Fleury, which are also part of the company’s multi-well Flames-Maroons Development Plan (FMDP), are now underway using a zipper frac technique to maximise efficiency.
Brookside said that the operations were on target for production and first sales by late Q3/early Q4 2024 growing its net production to 2,500 BOEPD (78% liquids) by Q4 2024.
About the stimulation
High-intensity fracture stimulation is the process of injecting fluid and sand into the reservoir rock to create fractures.
These fractures help release trapped oil and gas, creating a pathway for those hydrocarbons to flow to the wellbore.
During the stimulation, fluid is pumped at high pressure down a well lined with steel casing that is cemented in place. This fluid flows through perforations in the casing into the target zone (or stage), creating fractures in the oil and gas-bearing formation.
At the three Sanford Pad wells completion operations have started using a zipper frac technique to maximize efficiency by performing completion operations on two of the three wells at any given time.
The two-mile Iginla well is being zippered along with the one-mile Maroons Well. Once the high intensity fracture stimulation of Maroons is finished, the Iginla Well will be zippered with the one-mile Fleury Well.
Both the Fleury and Iginla wells are expected to be finishing at about the same time.
The zipper fracturing method is used on multi-well pads to improve production performance. Specifically, this method refers to fracturing two or more parallel horizontal wells with the fracturing treatment performed stage by stage alternatively along the two wells.
About the FMDP
The FMDP is a multi-well drilling program targeting the highly productive Sycamore Lime and Woodford Shale formations in the SCOOP area of the southern Anadarko Basin.
Of the four wells in the multi-well drilling program, three were drilled from the Sanford Pad - the Fleury, Maroons and Iginla wells - with the final well, Rocket, drilled from the Flames Well pad.

The FMDP is forecast to produce 715,000 BOE (78% liquids) net to Brookside in its first year of operation with average production boosted to 2,300 BOEPD net to Brookside and revenue to US$70 million (net income US$26.6 million) in FY2025.
Revenue over the life of the wells is projected to be US$164 million with net income of US$58 million from 2.1 million BOE Net (~60% liquids).
The FMDP will be the first of many planned step changes in the growth of Brookside’s production, revenue and net income, contributing to Brookside’s success for years to come.
