Frontier IP Group PLC (AIM:FIPP) portfolio company Pulsiv said it has launched the world's most efficient 65-watt USB-C reference design charger.
Pulsiv's 65W USB-C fast charger operates at temperatures 30% lower than equivalent technologies on the market today, based on thermal measurements taken after 30 minutes of running at full load.
It operates at 96% efficiency, meaning only 4% of the converted electricity is lost through heat, a figure that has been independently verified.
Pulsiv believes this is a 'world best', making it ideal for applications where space and heat sensitivity are concerns.
The company is initially targeting in-wall plug sockets that incorporate USB-C charging, a market currently worth US$1.5 billion annually, and says talks have already begun with potential customers.
Start-up investment specialist Frontier IP held an 18.2% equity stake in Pulsiv at the end of 2023.
Neil Crabb, Frontier IP’s chief executive, said: "The launch of this world-leading USB-C fast charging technology is a tremendous achievement for Pulsiv.
“It paves the way for making in-wall sockets featuring USB-C ports ubiquitous, among many other possible applications, and enables the USB-C standard to reach its full potential."
