Elon Musk claimed that a large-scale distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack disrupted his scheduled conversation with former President Donald Trump on X, the platform previously known as Twitter.
The discussion was set for 8 pm EDT (1 am BST), but many users experienced issues accessing the platform, with some seeing a “not available” message.
Despite the problems, around 214,000 people were able to join.
Musk described the event as a conversation rather than an interview and noted that the attack seemed to target X.
He announced that they would proceed with a reduced number of live listeners and later post the full conversation.
Trump’s account, restored after being suspended following the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack, was used to share his claims of politically motivated prosecutions.
During the conversation, Trump also discussed an assassination attempt he survived in July, blaming the incident on security lapses.
