Walt Disney Co (NYSE:DIS, ETR:WDP) has announced a horde of new changes to its theme parks across the globe, including undergoing one of the largest expansions to its Florida site.
Over the weekend, the entertainment conglomerate showcased the new experiences at Disney’s D23 convention, following earlier announcements about its upcoming films.
Walt Disney World in Florida will see its flagship Magic Kingdom park be expanded for the first time in its 53-year existence as it builds a new area for villains and the Cars franchise.
At its Hollywood Studios park, a long-awaited Monsters Inc ride was confirmed, set to recreate the famed “flying door scene”, while the Animal Kingdom park saw details revealed on Encanto and Indiana Jones experiences.
Back in Europe, Disney’s resort in Paris will have a new Lion King attraction added, with early images hinting at a log flume ride going through the African savannah.
It adds to plans to build a theme park area called World of Frozen, based on the Frozen films, set to launch in 2026.
The two new rides will be built at Walt Disney Studio Park, which is set to be renamed to Disney Adventure World.
Over on the West Coast of the US, Disneyland Resort, California will create two new superhero-themed rides, an attraction centred around the Avatar franchise and a Coco experience.
Disneyland Hong Kong will add a new Spiderman ride as part of a wider Marvel-themed area.
