Iondrive partners with PEM to commercialise battery recycling in Europe

Iondrive partners with PEM to commercialise battery recycling in Europe

Iondrive Ltd (ASX:ION) CEO Ebbe Dommisse joins Proactive’s Tylah Tully to discuss a collaboration agreement with German-based PEM and PEM Motion, recognised leaders in battery technology and recycling, to commercialise battery recycling technology in Europe. The agreement, although non-binding, is considered significant by Iondrive as it formalises a strategic industry partnership in Europe, a key target market.

The collaboration aims to advance sustainable battery recycling technologies by integrating PEM's expertise with Iondrive's Deep Eutectic Solvents Sustainable Battery Recycling process.

A consortium, expected to include strategic partners from the entire battery recycling value chain, will validate the performance of battery cells made from recycled materials at scale. The initial focus will be on establishing a pilot plant in Germany, with detailed project planning and investment cases to be completed within three months. This partnership seeks to address new regulatory challenges under the European Green Deal, particularly those related to recycling efficiency and material recovery.

Dommisse described the development as a major achievement for the company, highlighting the strategic positioning and commercial opportunities it provides in the European market.
