Spanish Mountain Gold Ltd (TSX-V:SPA, OTC:SPAZF) has begun its 2024 exploration diamond drill program at the Spanish Mountain Gold Project, located in the Cariboo Gold Corridor near Likely, British Columbia.
The primary goals are to extend near-surface mineralization towards the northwest and to increase the size of the proposed pit, which would ultimately expand the scale of the project.
The contractor Hardrock Diamond Drilling will undertake a total of 5,000 meters across nine diamond drill holes, each ranging from 460 to 646 meters in length.
The drill holes are strategically positioned along the northwestern edge of the deposit, targeting the extension of newly identified zones of mineralization.
Additionally, the program aims to confirm high-grade geological controls, with the potential for expanding the mineral resource base.
“The company is also pleased to advise that Hardrock will be utilizing renewable diesel fuel in the operation of its equipment, reducing the carbon footprint from its activity,” chief executive Peter Mah said in a statement.
“The Hardrock team brings a wealth of experience that will be critical to the realization of our 2024 drill program.”
Drilling is expected to be completed by the end of September 2024.
