NanoViricides reports major progress in advancing broad-spectrum antiviral drug NV-387

NanoViricides (NYSE-A:NNVC) has highlighted significant progress made in advancing its lead drug candidate NV-387 during the 2024 fiscal year 2024, which ended June 30, in a letter to investors.

NV-387 is designed to disable viruses by mimicking the host cell, targeting a wide range of viruses including Influenza, COVID, RSV, and more.

In preclinical studies, NV-387 has shown superior efficacy, particularly in an RSV study where it achieved complete survival of infected mice, indicating its potential as a broad-spectrum antiviral.

“NV-387 is expected to be a revolutionary antiviral drug with an ultra-broad-spectrum antiviral potential, akin to penicillin when it was first developed as a broad-spectrum antibiotic,” NanoViricides (NYSE-A:NNVC) wrote in the letter.

The company is currently conducting a Phase 1 trial in India and plans to start Phase 2 trials to evaluate NV-387's effectiveness in humans.

The company told shareholders it anticipates “substantial further progress” this year, leading toward commercialization and the market entry of its drug products.

It is also exploring collaborations with big pharma corporations to provide financing and accelerate its programs.

The full letter to investors can be found here.
