Uber shares surge as earnings and revenues beat the Street

Shares in Uber Technologies Inc (NYSE:UBER, ETR:UT8) surged 8% in pre-market trading after it surpassed Wall Street's second-quarter revenue and core profit estimates.

The ride-hailing giant benefited from steady demand for its ride-sharing and food-delivery services as more people returned to offices and increased outings.

CEO Dara Khosrowshahi highlighted consistent growth across regions, with notable strength in Latin America, Australia, and India.

Airport rides, Uber Shuttle, and student subscriptions also contributed to increased bookings.

Uber's revenue grew 16% to $10.70 billion, exceeding the $10.57 billion expected by analysts.

Gross bookings rose 19% to $39.95 billion, above the anticipated $39.68 billion and adjusted core earnings were $1.60 billion, beating the $1.51 billion forecast.

Ahead of the bell, the stock was up $4.70 at $63.18.
