Airea (AIM:AIEA) fell over 13% on Tuesday morning after warning of an “unforeseen slowdown” in recent months.
The specialist flooring company said the unexpected dip in trading came after a strong start to the year, causing second-quarter sales to fall by 5.6% year-on-year.
For the first half, sales across the UK and Ireland declined 0.3%, Airea (AIM:AIEA) added in a statement, stretching to 21.9% across international markets on geopolitical and economic concerns.
“In view of the difficult conditions in the second quarter, coupled with the continued programme of investment in the group's transformation, the board has moderated its full-year sales growth and profit expectations,” the company said.
Though Airea (AIM:AIEA) reassured trading should improve in the months ahead, it warned worse second-quarter sales had prompted inventory levels to rise above normal levels.
Interim results are due on September 26.
