Cordel Group PLC (AIM:CRDL), which uses artificial intelligence to help improve the efficiency of rail networks, said it has won a contract extension with the US national rail network operator, Amtrak.
It will provide a "comprehensive assessment" of the Metro-North corridor, which runs services between New York City and the northern suburbs in New York and Connecticut.
This is part of the 'northeast corridor' railroad line, which runs from Boston to Washington DC.
The contract aims to enhance safety and efficiency on this critical rail line, the company said, including providing autonomous data capture capabilities, leveraging LiDAR technology to scan and store structure data for the entire Metro-North corridor.
