Meta to allow users to create personalised AI chatbots

Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:META, ETR:FB2A, SWX:FB) is set to launch AI Studio, a new tool which will allow users to personalise and share their own AI chatbots.

AI Studio will see customised artificial intelligence avatars become available, with Instagram users now able to use them to handle DMs and replies to stories, the Facebook owner revealed.

Users will be able to use the AI characters “as an extension of themselves”, through implementing them in Meta’s range of social media platforms, which includes Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp and Threads.

Meta’s latest advancement has been developed through its recently launched Llama 3.1, one of the largest open-source AI models available in the world.

Llama 3.1 is available in multiple countries and languages and contains a new feature in which it can create images based on someone’s specific likeness.

Meta also said Llama 3.1’s performance metrics compete with those of paid models from rivals like OpenAI.

“I believe the Llama 3.1 release will be an inflection point in the industry where most developers begin to primarily use open source, and I expect that approach to only grow from here,” Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg said upon release of the model.

Meanwhile, ChatGPT creator OpenAI is in the midst of developing a highly secret project called ‘Strawberry’, which is expected to showcase the company’s ability to create models with advanced reasoning capabilities.
