Seeing Machines Ltd (AIM:SEE, OTC:SEEMF)’s Guardian Generation 3 AI-powered driver monitoring system has been successfully fitted into Wrightbus, the Northern Ireland-based manufacturer of the world's first hydrogen double-deck bus.
The system has received regulatory approval, known as ‘homologation’, marking a significant step for Seeing Machines’ adoption by vehicle manufacturers across Europe.
Wrightbus is the first customer to achieve homologation for the Guardian Generation 3, which aligns with Europe's new General Safety Regulation (GSR).
The regulation, effective this month, mandates driver monitoring to mitigate drowsiness. It ensures the system's compliance with regulatory standards, validating its use in enhancing public transportation safety.
Paul McGlone, chief executive of Seeing Machines, said it was “a significant milestone in the deployment of our driver monitoring systems within the public transportation sector”.
“Integrating our cutting-edge technology into Wrightbus vehicles is an important step forward in reducing the risks associated with driver fatigue, which will soon encompass distraction as regulations evolve, and is fundamental to our mission of saving lives," he added.
