Kromek Group PLC (AIM:KMK)’s D3M detector has been named in the Personal Radiation Detector section of the UK Government Resilience Framework.
This framework is part of an initiative to strengthen the UK's resilience to serious public safety and security threats.
It allows all blue light service operators in the UK to purchase the D3M detector without a separate approval process, facilitating quicker and more efficient acquisition of this crucial equipment.
Kromek has received its first order under the framework from Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service, which will utilise the D3M detector in its Detection, Identification, and Monitoring (DIM) vehicles.
The D3M is the only PRD that has been pre-approved for purchase under the framework, which is scheduled to be in place for four years.
Arnab Basu, chief executive of Kromek, said: "We are delighted that our D3M detector has been named as the Personal Radiation Detector for this significant UK initiative and to have received our first order from Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service.
“The D3M is a world-leading radiation detector that offers unprecedented situational awareness.
“Being selected for the Framework is validation of the strength of our solutions and opens up another important commercial avenue for Kromek."
