The new Labour administration has committed £100 million to advance quantum technology, aiming to transform healthcare, transport, and national security.
Science Secretary Peter Kyle announced the funding for five quantum technology hubs across England and Scotland. These hubs will collaborate with industry and government to develop and commercialize quantum devices, fostering a new economy.
Kyle highlighted the potential for the UK to lead globally in quantum technology, addressing domestic challenges and tapping into international markets.
The hubs, in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Oxford, and London, will create innovative devices like brain-scanner helmets, gravity sensors for underground pipes, and quantum-enhanced blood tests.
