Standard Uranium kicks off summer drill program at Sun Dog project

Standard Uranium Ltd (TSX-V:STND, OTCQB:STTDF) announced that it has commenced drilling at its Sun Dog uranium project in Saskatchewan.

The company said field crews are on site and drilling began on schedule.

The Sun Dog project is under a three-year earn-in option agreement with Aero Energy. The 2024 drill program will be funded by Aero and operated by Standard Uranium.

The company intends to drill approximately 1,000 to 2,000 meters across five to seven drill holes.

Helicopter-supported drilling is focused on uranium targets refined by geophysical work and prospecting completed by the company earlier in the year, starting with the Wishbone target, an area defined by strong VTEM conductors with associated radioactivity which has never been drill tested.

Other targets include McNie, which has about 4 kilometers of unexplored areas that show strong potential from a VTEM survey. Another target is Spring-Dome, which has been explored in the past and is known for its mineral-rich rocks and uranium-bearing veins and fractures.

"The team and I are thrilled to announce that the drill is spinning on our exciting new Wishbone target area, kicking off our summer exploration season," Standard Uranium VP exploration Sean Hillacre said in a statement.

The 48,443-acre Sun Dog area is located 15 kilometers from Uranium City on the northern margin of the Athabasca Basin and hosts the historical Gunnar Uranium Mine.
