Global Energy Metals Corp (TSX-V:GEMC) announced that its joint venture partner, Australia’s Kingsrose Mining, has signed a drill service agreement with Arctic Drilling to commence core drilling at the Råna nickel-copper-cobalt project in Norway this August.
Global Energy Metals holds a 10% ownership in Narvik Nikel, the Norwegian company that owns 100% of Råna, and a 1% NSR royalty on the project.
Drilling at the Rånbogen prospect will focus on shallow, highly conductive electromagnetic (EM) anomalies.
The minimum 700 meters of drilling, required under a previous agreement, will explore targets down dip from surface nickel-copper-cobalt sulphides.
Mitchell Smith, CEO of Global Energy Metals, highlighted the potential of these targets, noting that previous drilling returned significant mineralization.
“Last year’s drilling at Rånbogen, approximately 600 metres up hill to the southeast of these targets, returned the best result of the program including 9.3 metres at 1% nickel, 0.3% copper and 0.1% cobalt, so we are very much looking forward to receiving the results of the upcoming drilling.”
Drilling will be helicopter-supported, Global Energy Metals said. The program includes multiple sustainability and permitting initiatives, such as land access agreements, baseline environmental surveys, and engagement with local communities and the Sami Parliament.
Kingsrose is earning up to an 80% interest by committing $15 million in project expenditures.
Drilling is expected to conclude in early September, with assay results anticipated by October and November 2024.
