A third of people in the UK are planning both an overseas getaway and a break in the UK, a new survey by American Express found.
Costs for the two trips will be £2,804 for international travel, with a further £1,754 for the trip in the UK.
Around two-fifths are going to up their spending when abroad, the survey found, while a similar fraction plan to make two international trips.
Domestic holidays are especially popular among young people, with just under two-thirds of 18-34-year-olds planning a staycation either in a city for a break or at traditional holiday spots in Wales, Cornwall, the Lake District, and Devon.
Separately, Ryanair today said that airline fares had dropped 15% in its first quarter, which ended in June.
Boss Michael O'Leary added that he expects fares in the current key summer quarter to be "materially lower than last summer", having previously expected them to be flat or modestly up.
