Greggs PLC (LSE:GRG) has unveiled plans for a massive new national distribution hub in Northamptonshire on a site owned by Tritax Big Box REIT PLC (LSE:BBOX).
To be built at Symmetry Park in Kettering, the new warehouse will cover around 311,000 sq ft on a 25-acre plot and will fully enable the bakery chain’s planned expansion needs.
Greggs already has 2,500 cake, coffee and pie outlets in the UK but wants to increase that to more than 3,000, with the new centre allowing it to supply ambient and chilled products throughout the country.
Tritax Symmetry, the logistics development arm of FTSE 250-listed Tritax Big Box, is also seeking planning permission for an additional 100,000 sq ft to enable Greggs to expand the site further if needed.
Symmetry Park covers 136 acres in total with outline planning permission already granted for 2,310,000 sq ft of logistics floor space.
Greggs said it expects the centre to be operational in the first half of 2027 subject to planning approvals.
