Apple's Indian push reportedly gaining tractions

Apple Inc's (NASDAQ:AAPL, ETR:APC) sales in India surged by 33% to nearly $8 billion in the year ending March, as reported by Bloomberg News, based on information from an insider.

More than half of these sales were from iPhones and came as the tech giant moved its focus away from China.

In April, Bloomberg also reported that Apple had assembled $14 billion worth of iPhones in India during the last fiscal year, with 14% of its flagship products being manufactured there.

Most of these hadnsets are produced at the Sriperumbudur plant, located about 25 miles west of Chennai, Tamil Nadu's state capital.
